Linde Gas will participate in realisation of the most important current investment in TŘINECKÉ ŽELEZÁRNY, which is the pulverised coal injection (= PCI). Thanks to it, the iron production process will become more economical and ecologic than the current one. Compared to the past, the PCI technology usage requires more extensive industrial gas utilisation.
To secure the industrial gas supply, Třinecké železárny concluded a long-term contract with the Linde Gas company.
„Currently, Linde operates three air separation units in Třinec. These existing units will be replaced by the new plant that will increase the reliability, safety, and also the effectiveness of the supply“Mr. Mojmír Kašprišin, member of the Moravia Steel Board, accounted for the investment necessity after the contract signature. As the pulverised coal injection into the blast furnace induces higher demand for oxygen and nitrogen, all three existing air separation units will to be operated. The new air separation unit construction represents a long-term solution that replaces the existing three separation units and also covers the potential steel production increase. The new modern air separation unit was designed on the basis of the long-term experience of Linde; it is capable of producing more than 1,000 tons of oxygen/day; it also produces nitrogen and argon.
By the signature of the relevant contract, Mr. Petr Choulík, Managing director of Linde Gas a.s., said: "This investment further strengthens the strong market position of Linde at the Czech market in the segment of big customer supply both by pipeline and with liquids.“
The new production plant construction starts in January 2014. The total invested amount exceeds 1.5 billion CZK. Both domestic and external companies will participate in the construction. The technology will be supplied by Linde Engineering. The readiness for delivery is assumed in July 2015.
